Asthma care post Covid 19 and “SMASH” – The Salford medication safety dashboard

We continued to aim to make you “Stop, Think & Re-focus” to support you in your role to optimise medicine use for your local population.
This time we were joined by 2 external speakers:
- Hetal Dhruve, a specialist respiratory pharmacist & clinical respiratory lead for City and Hackney CCG, currently undertaking a PhD about optimising treatment for patients with uncontrolled asthma symptoms in primary care. She talked to us about the latest national primary care Asthma guidance and gave us tips on how best to review asthma patients in the post Covid recovery phase ie F2F vs online vs Video vs Telephone consults.
- Darren Ashcroft, the Foundation Chair in Pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Manchester and the founding Director of the Centre for Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety. He is Head of the Drug Usage and Pharmacy Practice Division at Manchester Pharmacy School. He is also the research theme lead for medication safety in the NIHR Greater Manchester Primary Care Patient Safety Translational Research Centre. He talked to us about “SMASH” The Salford medication safety dashboard and inspired people to take part in primary care research around medicines optimisation in primary care wherever possible.
